More Democrats Rejecting Obama on Ending Bush Tax Cuts
« on: September 17, 2010, 02:36:53 PM »
Quoting from the article...

WASHINGTON — More Democrats joined Republicans on Thursday in calling for the preservation of tax breaks for Americans of every income level, bolting this election season from President Barack Obama's plan to preserve cuts for families who earn less than $250,000 and let taxes rise for the wealthiest Americans. But Obama placed the blame for the stalled proposal squarely on Republicans.

"They want to hold these middle class tax cuts hostage until they get an additional tax cut for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans," the president said in afternoon remarks.

"Doesn't it make sense for us to move forward with the tax cuts that we all agree on?" Obama added. "We should be able to extend, right now, middle-class tax relief on the first $250,000 of income."

Nervous Democrats are among those with concerns about the president's plan.

"We should not be raising taxes in the middle of a recession," Rep. Jim Marshall, D-Ga., who's facing tough odds in his bid for a fourth term, wrote in a terse letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

My comments:

Did you notice the words that Pres. Obama used?  Whenever Democrats talk about "tax cuts" those are code words to mean "no tax increase right now."  It's not a real tax cut that means you'll be paying less next year, to Democrats it means "no tax increase" for the moment.  So, it's not a tax cut at all, it's simply the lack of a tax increase right now.

If you look at history, Democrats have always raised taxes and increased government spending, while Republicans have always lowered taxes and then cut spending to make up for it.

Pres. Obama and the Democrat controlled Legislature have spent the last two years spending all of the money they can get their hands on with their wasteful government programs.  They should have spent their time on the economy and created jobs instead of healthcare.  Healthcare for everyone should have taken a back seat to jobs and the economy right now.  But, the Democrats have wanted to cram healthcare down our throats for 20 years and they finally had the votes to do it.  They ignored the economy and jobs until now.  As Pres. Clinton said in the 1990s when he was elected, "it's the economy, stupid!"

During the past 2 years, the National debt has increased to unbelievable record levels that our children will have to pay for.  If this continues and our national debt isn't reduced quickly, our children will be the first Americans to inherit a diminished country.  They will no longer live in the best country in the World.  That's a sad fact that has only happened since Obama's Hope and Change tour was elected to office.  This is not the change that we were hoping for and people all over the country that understand this are very angry.
