Rush Limbaugh Steps Into 'Negro' Fray
« on: January 12, 2010, 04:10:22 PM »
(Newser) – The word negro hasn't seen this much action in years, but Rush Limbaugh last night joined Harry Reid in resuscitating the term—with a little speaking ill of the dead thrown in for good measure. Discussing the 2008 presidential campaign on his radio show last night, Limbaugh jumped into the fray by saying, rather gratuitously, "It was negroes that brought Ted Kennedy his booze," the Huffington Post reports.

Limbaugh was referring to the claim in recent book Game Change that Kennedy endorsed Barack Obama after Bill Clinton, who was hitting him up to back Hillary, had said that just a few years earlier, Obama would have been serving Clinton and Kennedy coffee. The writers missed the point, Limbaugh said: "What made Teddy Kennedy mad was it's women get him coffee. It was negroes that brought Ted Kennedy his booze. And that's why he was all offended."
